Rick’s Featured Trade Ideas

LITE/Long (Communication equipment)  LITE has consolidated for about 11 days and formed a bullish morning star signal Friday.  Leading up to the consolidation, it was a very organized and strong T-Line™ run.

In Hit & Run Candlesticks profit-taking fashion, we closed out and profited on our SBUX, FB short Friday and our TZA long.  We were in great company with many in the trading room doing the same.  Long live the profits.

SPY:  The bearish “M” pattern was confirmed Friday by closing below the November 16 low.  Price continues to fade below the T-Line™ for the past four days and closed within pennies of our horizontal support line Friday.  Rumor has it that Wednesday will be the day the Fed will announce the rate hike.  In my personal opinion, the best thing for the retail trader to do is sit out of the market until the market gives a clear indication of the direction and most importantly with decision and without chop.  This is not likely to happen until after Wednesday.

IWM:  Other than being oversold, there are no signs of bullishness. Possibly a relief rally is in order.
SMH:  And SMH landed on the 200- and the 50-period moving averages.  As suspected being slightly oversold, the likelihood of a relief rally is fairly good, but a close over the T-Line™ is needed for any kind of a bullish run.
IYT:  Owned and controlled by the bears, price is quite oversold to the T-Line™ and a relief bounce is likely.
S&P VIX Short-Term Futures VXX:  The VXX has successfully broken out at a bullish “W” pattern.  Watch for consolidation here.
