Today’s Swing Trade Ideas

APPL/Long (Technology)  After Apple’s bearish engulf a couple of weeks ago the follow-through led to a lower low below the big three, the buyers stepped in to create a higher high and then lost traction when the sellers brought price down. But the Bulls stopped it with a higher low, then yesterday the Bulls pushed and closed the candle over the 127.62 bullish line creating a bullish “W” pattern.

LOCO/Long (Restaurants)  LOCO was originally featured on January 7.   As of yesterday, LOCO is up about 25%.  Long-term holders or short-term swing traders have had a good run.  It now looks as if LOCO may be ready to step in to the $30 area.  Please note that LOCO has been traded and monitored as a Rounded Bottom Breakout without the 200-SMA.

SPY: Friday’s employment numbers pushed the SPY back into the high side of it’s trading range above the big 3 and the T-Line. A breakout of $212.48 is needed before we can start thinking about a new bullish leg. Not much has changed.  Overall, the market is still leaning to the bullish side with a great deal of back and forth (chop).

BABA/Long (Specialty Retail)  BABA looks to be gapping up this morning on earnings, and a close above the 50 SMA will give us a Rounded Bottom Breakout.  In the next couple of weeks, we could see BABA in the $95 area.

UWTI/Long (Oil sector)  UWTI has been in a bullish trend starting from mid-March, and the price has now climbed over the big three and over the 100 SMA while still in a Rounded Bottom Breakout pattern.  If managed correctly, bought and sold that is, I see price running into the $5 area which is about 35%

SPY:  The buyers gapped up in the morning and then allowed the sellers to bring price to the lower end of the gap.  Closing still above the big three and the T-Line, this suggests that the buyers are still in control.  A trader has to wonder with yesterday’s upper shadow and so close to resistance, is this a clue?

IWM:  Trying to recover from IWM’s big hit last week is not going to be easy.  You can see yesterday that the sellers allowed the buyers to crawl the wall, but then by the end of the day, the wall was too steep and the buyers slid back down.
