SPY vs T-Line™  Price < T-Line™ Choppy market
7:00 am:  S-i-d-e  W-a-y-s  M-a-r-k-et… After the April 1 high, the market has slipped into a short-term sideways trance. Last week I spoke of the $204 level being important for the bull to defend and the bears to capture, and it still remains an important hill for both sides. If the bears capture the $204.00 hill, the next battle should take place around $201.75.

SPY vs T-Line™  2-ema > T-Line™ Choppy market
7:00 am:  Last week the SPY pretty much crawled along the $204.00 support line, and according to the morning futures today, we are opening above the $204.00 support line.   Above $204.65, the Bulls may be trying to put a run together; below $203.95 and the bears may be starting to wake up.   The earnings Continue Reading

SPY vs T-Line™  Price > T-Line™ Choppy market
7:00 am:  Yesterday we mentioned that (IYT) Transportation ETF was vulnerable below $139.73; yesterday IYT dropped another 1.29% closing at $137.14, so the vulnerability continues.  $135.91 is the next area that the Bulls have a chance to defend; if the bears stay in control, $133.55 may be tested.

The sellers were able to win yesterday’s game closing below our $204.00 line on the SPY.  I see that the futures are up this morning a tad, but Continue Reading

The chart to keep your eye on:  Dow Jones transportation average index ETF (IYT).  IYT has fallen below $139.73 and is very vulnerable under that level.

SPY vs T-Line™  Price > T-Line™ Choppy market
7:00 am:  Yesterday was another day of bullish magic when the buyers were able to open the SPY at $204.47  and close at the $206.42, a 1.9% gain from the previous day.
It looks as if we’re going to open with an inside day just above the support that we’ve seen for the past four days at the $204.00. I think the Continue Reading

SPY vs T-Line™  Price < T-Line™ CAUTION TODAY
7:00 amThe SPY has had a nice run currently, up over 12% from the February lows, and the SPY has successfully run through the 50 and 200-SMAs, nearly knocking on the door of the all-time high.  Unfortunately, it is my belief that the Bulls are running a little low on energy and are in  need of a rest in the coming days.  During this rest, the bears will likely push back.  Already yesterday, the bears pushed price below the T-Line™ and closed price below the $205.50 support Continue Reading

SPY and T-Line™ Swing Trade Attitude: Price < T-Line™ CAUTION TODAY
7:00 am Yesterday printed an inside day bearish Harami after a flag Bullish Engulf.  This morning it looks like the futures have weakness.  This suggests the Bullish Engulf was not strong enough to carry the buyers higher at this time. If the bears continue their strength today, we will see a close below the T-Line™, and that would put Continue Reading

SPY and T-Line Swing Trade Attitude: Price > T-Line™ CAUTION TODAY
7:00 am:  Wednesday the SPY closed with a gap-up Doji while the S&P 500 closed with a Bearish Shooting Star.  Thursday, we experienced mild weakness still closing above the T-Line.  Last night Japan had a very hard day dropping nearly 600 points, and there’s no doubt this is going to bleed over to the US market today.  In Wednesday’s note sent to your inbox I wrote:  “The key today, or at least over the next few days, is to close over the March highs and stay over the March highs.”  In Thursday’s note sent to your inbox I wrote:  “The SPY closed higher Continue Reading

SPY and T-Line Swing Trade Attitude: Daily Chart Price & T-Line™ Bullish
7:00 am:  The SPY closed higher yesterday, just as we expected, based on the previous price action which can be seen through the candlesticks and candlestick pattern.  Investors did leave us yesterday with a gap-up Doji deep into resistance territory.  This is a sign of caution as we may see a slight pullback/profit taking.  Continue Reading

SPY and T-Line Swing Trade Attitude: Daily Chart Price & T-Line Bullish
7:00 am:  Over the past few days, the SPY has pulled back below its trendline printing a mini belthold and finding support just above the 38.2 fib line. Follow through with a Doji and then unleashing of a Bullish Engulf monster yesterday when Janet Yellin had a definite dove sitting on her shoulder.  The key today, or at Continue Reading

SPY and T-Line Swing Trade Attitude: 60-min T-Line < 34-ema
7:00 am:  Price will slide below the T-Line™ today; whether or not it stays there is something we’ll have to wait for.  The SPY has enjoyed a very nice rally from mid-February until March 17.  On March 22, the SPY showed signs of weakening and not enough energy to push higher.  On March 24, the SPY gapped down below the bullish trend line, and this is a sign of weakness compared to its recent trend.  March 17 to the 22nd also ran into a great deal of horizontal resistance in Continue Reading
