Swing Trade Ideas August 12, 2015

One of Today’s Featured Trade Ideas

AAPL/Short (Technology)  AAPL has showed weakness for the last three weeks or so and continues to show weakness.  Many members of Hit-And-Run Candlesticks have been short, and it still looks like a short trade that will continue south.  I have a target area of about $105 – $100.  We had plans that if Apple was to bounce up into the 200-day simple moving average area, we would probably add to our short.  Unfortunately, the sellers wouldn’t allow price to get near the 200 SMA fence.

I will be covering more on the trade plan (entry, stop, targets) in the trading room at 9:10 AM EDT today.  Click here to learn more

SPY:  There is no doubt over the past several weeks that the sellers have had control of the SPY.  It has been obvious and very visual on the chart.  If you have any doubts, check us out in our trading room.  I would be more than happy to explain in detail what just can’t be put in print.

The big question today will most likely be:  “Will the SPY find support above the 200-day simple moving average?”  And I wish I could give you a definitive answer on that.  Here are a few things I see that are pretty basic — price action and the T-Line closed yesterday and likely to close today below the big three and also below the 30-day linear regression line.  We have a series of lower highs, but then again, we also have rising lows, and that will be canceled out by the southern sloping 50-day simple moving average.

IWM:  IWM has given way to the daily 200-day simple moving average and is very close to giving way to the weekly 50-day simple moving average.  With a series of lower highs and the price action and the T-Line running south below the big three, the 20-day simple moving average breaking trail for the 50-SMA just screams of caution if you are bound and determined to be long.  I can’t really find anything positive to say about the IWM unless you’re a seller.

SMH:  SMH is desperately trying to build a bottom.  Unfortunately, it may be a wasted effort.  Somewhere in the $49 area looks a little better for support, but right now, I even have my doubts on that.

IYT:  If the Transports give way to $146.85, then the suggestion would be that the buyers are giving up and the sellers are waking up.
